Tutorial: How to Make Jung Zongzi 粽子 Chinese Tamales

Learn how to make our family recipe of jung/chinese tamales.

Makes 36 Jung
5 lbs sweet rice
1 lb long grain rice
3 T salt
2 tsp oil
1 lb ham, 3" slices
14 oz mung beans, soak and wash
3 dozen salted eggs
1 lb chinese sausage (lop cheung), cut each sausage into 4 pieces
1.5 lbs salted pork belly
3/4 cup dried shrimp, soak and wash
1 lb bamboo leaves

Salted Egg Recipe - 60 eggs
60 extra large eggs
3 cups rock salt
12 cups water
3 T vinegar
2 tea bags

Salt pork
1 1/2 lb pork belly
1 1/2 tsp salt
